Play with pitch shifting

After I get the main idea down for a sample I tend to start playing with effects that give the sample a vintage vibe like it came off of a vinyl record.

Even though there are many other pitch shifters I like to use. I use this this pitch shifter by Quikquak because of its gritty nature it adds to the sound.

Change the sonic character

After some gritty pitch shifting I add Saturation EQ, and Compression with the Slate Digital Virtual Mix Rack Plugin for some analog warmness and sonic character.

Simulate vinyl degradation

After the last chain of degradation effects I use one last degrading effect which simulates a Vinyl. I like the unique distortion and saturation this plugin gives also I put this on for it’s wow and flutter that gives the sample more of a vintage vibe.

And that’s it. In three steps, you’ve achieved my version of achieving a Vintage Sound.
